=tree of
life=: this is the most important building in the race. if you don't have a
tree of life, it means you've lost the game!! even if you have other buildings
and units, you definatly need a main building. this buildin allows you to train
wisps, which harvest wood and gold. remember, the entangled gold mine really
isn't a second building, but an extension of the tree. the tree of life can
also uproot, for additional melle strengh and spped. but cances are , if you
have to resort to this, you've lost.
-WISPS: the basic
workers of the night evles. they cannot attack or destroy trees. they just hover
around the tree, harvesting it's natural energy. they also attach to entangled
gold mines. if you really must, you can blow them up. once agian, chances are
if you need to do this you have lost the game.
=the alter of elders=: this is the second most important building in the race; it trains your heroes. so, this should be the first building you build.
-DEMON
HUNTER: the best melee hero. it uses close combat and has low HP, but that doesn't
mean it's usless. just train it to level 6 for "demon mode" where
to demon hunter turns into a demon itself, and can attack land or ground untis.
-PRIESTESS OF
THE MOON: the best long range unit for NE. always make it have the owl special
ability so you can spy on your enemy(s) early in thr game! at level 6 it learns
the "starfall" special abilite that is arguably the best atatck in
the agem. it basically rains stars and does major damge to the enemy.
-KEEPER OF THE
GROVE: the "bad" hero. every army has the "bad" hero, and
this is it. but, if you are the rsuhing type, use the treant special ability
to manifest tree people to rush. the more levels it gains, the more treants
it summons, so do that. at level 6 it learns the healing aura thign, which supposedly
heals damaged units, but i never saw it.
-WARDEN; yay
yuh... w/e
=ANCIENT OF WAR=: the basic unit making building for NE. so, you guessed it, this is the second building you build. it too, can uproot and attack enemies.
-ARCHER: the
basic unit. unlike all the other races, the archer is affective in rushing,
so consider night elves for rushing. thye may have low hp and slow attacks,
but they haev very good attack. they are very affective in large numbers. in
small numbers, forget about it.... the enemy will pick each one off one by one.
-HUNTRESS:
the second unit. it may look like they are anti-air, but they are not. never
mass them no matter what. instead, use a few for building disposal. they haev
long ranged, affective attack and high hit points, though.
-GLAIVE
THROWER: these have no real purpose but to clear trees and kill buildings affectively....
they have terrible melee so i never use them.
=moon well=: the basic meat-gaining unit for NE.evey army has them in some form. the moon well is the third most important building for NE. but to avoid annoyance, in the beginning of the game, send a wisp to get wood. that way, by the time you haev the alter and the ancient of war, you have 40 lumber, enough to build a moon well. like all armies, you must keep building moon wells one after another. this is because in the time it takes to build one monn well you can train 5 archers. the moon wells are unique becasue they heal any of your units.... one well can heal two archers, but two wells heal one hero.
=ancient protector= the night elve's tower. i wouldn't recommned tower rushing
with them, but if you must: make tons out of the enemy's line of sight. make
them as far away form the enemy as neccessary. then, when you have 7+ ancients,
uproot them and move them itno the enemie's base or close to it. then root them,
then attack.
=hunter's hall=: the "dumb" building of night elves. every army has
a "dumb" building in some form. although it is stupid, it is indeed
to fourth most imporatn building so build it fourth. they're only real purpose
is so you can train huntresses and make anceint protecters.... you can also
research stuff but only use that if you're enemy is night elf, too. i never
research because it is a waste of time and resources. you can't train anything
directly from a hiner's hall. note: after hunter's hall, there is no one "fifth"
most imporant building. but, you need to upgrade to tree of ages anyway.
=ancient of lore=: you can grow ancient of lore's after upgrading to the tree
of ages.
-DRYAD: the
small, anti-air unit of NE. an alternative to the ancient protecter, if you
must. they may have low HP but they are fast moving and good attacking. the
good thing about dryads are that they have the abolish magic ability, which
is good for when you have air and the enemy has crypt fiends. anyway, dryads
are cute and cuddly too.....
-DRUID
OF THE CLAW: i dont' use druids. but if you must, this is the druid for ground
attack. it can transform into a bear. i've heard massing these bears is very
affective...
-MOUNTAIN GIANT:
this is the "large" unit of NE. with the addiction of the frozen throne,
all armies have a "large" unit except for human. very affective against
buildings.
=ancient of wind=: the building for making most anti air untis...
-HIPPOGRYPHS:
thye really have no purpose on their own, considering they only attack air units
and thye are not affective against buildings. they can, however, be upgraded
into the so-called hippo-riders, by learning the "hippogryph taming"
research. the hippogryph riders are basically the archers riding on the hipposgryphs.
very affective in large numbers.
-DRUID
OF THE TALON: the druid that has long ranged attacks and transforms into birds.
they are actually quite good on thier own. thier attacks look cool.
-FAERIE
DRAGONS: when blizzard made the frozen throne, they needed to make a small flying
unit that fly gracefully. the hippos counted as small flying untis, but, they
flapped all over the place. humans aslo lacked a small, graceful flying unit.
so with the addiction of the frozen throne, the nigth elves ahd the fairies,
the humasn had the dargonhawk riders, the orcs ahd the wond riders(which they
had previously) and the undead had the gargoyles. with ffaire dragons, the elves
could participate in "massing air" properly with their allies, look
more perfessional defeating their enemy. before, they had to suffice with the
hippos... along with wind riders and gargs.
=chimaeara roost=: very self explanitory, this building allows you to train chimaeras, or "chims" as we call them on battle.net. create multiple roosts to double or triple the amount of chims you have. at the roost you can reasearch corrosive breath.
-CHIMAERA: the
largest unit in NE except for the giants. also known as chims. for most affective
use, research "corrosive breath". this is good for some reason. basically,
chims are good for killign ground untis and buildings fast, but cannot attack
air untis. night elves, along with undead, are the only armys to date to have
a large flying unit. but i suspect this will change if blizzard comes out with
warcraft IV. the orcs already have a wide selection of small flying units but
lack a large one.
